ZAMANE the Festival of traditional songs from the south of the Drâa Valley is part of the project of cultural preservation of the region, supported since 2016 by the Embassy of the United States in Morocco and its “Ambassadors Fund”
To consolidate the achievements of this project of preservation of the ancestral musical heritage in the process of disappearance www.draaheritage.org we decided to create the Festival ZAMANE which will take place in M’Hamid el Ghizlane and its surroundings, a region well known for its cultural diversity and its glorious past.
During three days and three nights, many activities will be organized: music concerts of local and foreign groups, meetings, visits of villages related to the origins of local music groups
The festival will open its spaces to local groups representing the various communities and tribes of South / East Morocco and will also host other traditional groups from Mauritania, Mali and southern Algeria.
An important place will be reserved for traditional songs of western Algeria with the organization of a poetry evening followed by discussions on the theme poetry and traditional songs as a common heritage between Morocco and Algeria.
And a conference entitled the culture and common history as a factor of unity and rapprochement between the peoples of the great Maghreb with the participation of historians and cultural actors of the Maghreb and Sahel.
